Top Station Viewpoint Munnar
Top station a lesser-known place nested on the Kanna Devan Hills is the highest point ( at 1700m) in Munnar. The panoramic view of the western ghats; the greenery-filled valley of Theni; camping sites at the edge of the mountain that offers a grand view of the sunset, cool breeze blowing at you no matter what season it is and as you stand on the top the cloud passing just the hand touch away from you, make any person get down on his knees and go gaga over what nature in store for us. Above all, you can spot the famous Neelakurinji flowers that bloom once in 12 years by giving this valley a never seen blueish look.
Pothamedu Viewpoint
Pothamedu is a viewpoint famous for its panoramic view of the adjoining valleys and mountains. With a series of emerald hills, tea plantations, aromatic coffee estates, cardamom plantation, valleys with evergreen meadows, and wandering streams, this place is sure to take your breath away. Above all, the sight of the Sun bidding adieu by hiding behind the lofty mountains by casting an orange glow everywhere is truly dramatic. On a clear day, you can even see the Idukki Arch dam and Muthirapuzha river from the top. In fact, it will be an ideal destination for all nature lovers and photographers.
This place is just 5 km from Munnar Ksrtc bus depot and pulls in a lot of travelers every year. You can either take a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach Pothamedu. You can even see some travelers walking all the way to this viewpoint. We suggest you walk as the scenery keeps on changing all along the way and it would be an absolute feast for the eyes.
In addition to the view, there is a little tea shop next to the viewpoint which serves a variety of tea and coffee. Try sipping in some hot masala chai with tea biscuits, one of the best combinations that you could ever imagine.
Kolukkumalai Tea Estate Near Munnar
Kolukkumalai a little hamlet at 7900 ft above sea level in Bodinayakanur Taluk, Theni. It is the highest tea plantation in the world and it was set up by the British back in 1930. The two-storeyed wooden tea factory still uses the original equipment and follows age-old methods of organic tea farming and processing. It is the best place for adventure enthusiasts who love trekking and have a cup of traditional tea along with it.
