Vembanad Lake – The Largest Lake In India

This salt lake was formed by the impact of a meteor crashing into the surface of the Earth at an estimated speed of 90,000kmph, weighing 2 million tonnes. It is 1.2 kilometers wide and has a depth of about 137 meters. The water of Lonar lake is both saline and alkaline in nature.
