Alleppey The Venice of the East

Alleppey or Alappuzha called the “ Venice of the East”, sure has all the qualities which can give major places around the world a run for the role of “Paradise on Earth”. Alappuzha is a quaint little coastal town immensely known for picturesque beauty and tranquillity it upholds. Vembanad Lake

Vembanad lake, considered as a heart of Kerala backwaters, spans through several districts, making it the longest lake in India. Stretching at 90 km in length and 14 km in width, it is also recognized as the largest water reservoir of God’s own country. A vast array of rivers, lagoons, and canals empty their tanks at Kottayam to form a picturesque Vembanad lake. With coconut palms on either side, picture-perfect landscapes, rare kinds of birds flying on top of you, dramatic sunsets, freshwater lagoons, and lush green shrubs spread all over this is an ideal spot for all kinds of travelers.

This lake has got many activities to offer like boating, fishing, sightseeing, strolling through islands, and staying in houseboats that cruise through the beautiful location at a slow pace.

Not to mention, the world-famous snake boat races that are organized annually during the Onam festival. These races happening in different canals across Alleppey is surely the sight that gotta be in your bucket list. You can spot travelers from all over India and the world paying a visit to watch this craze filled boat race.
